This double album brings together familiar standards and instrumentals, including “Big Boss Man,” “Can’t Be Satisfied,” “Double Trouble,” and “Chitlins Con Carne.” Piano, guitar, bass, drums, and saxophone surround the voice at the center of it all: Willie Buck.

The Story

A Lifetime
in the Blues

Willie Buck first traveled from Houston, Mississippi, to Chicago in 1953 and settled there permanently the following year. In the clubs of the South and West Sides, he developed a soulful vocal style rooted in the Muddy Waters tradition.

His recordings include The Life I Love, Cell Phone Man, Willie Buck Way, and Live at Buddy Guy’s Legends. Chicago recognized his contribution with induction into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame as a Master Blues Artist and the honorary street designation Willie Buck Way.

His music has also taken him overseas, including repeated visits to Spain and Finland and performances in Brazil and Argentina. Chicago remains home.
